Jan Remembers:
Mom related a story about one Christmas when they were really poor.  Grandpa managed to get and save one dollar for Grandma to get the children Christmas presents.  That was a very sad moment for Grandma (and kids)!  Another time Mom got to go with Grandma and select the Christmas presents for the other children in lieu of getting a present herself.
Florence got _________, Lois got ___________, Milton got __________,
Esther got ___________, Ruth got ___________, Betty got __________,
Donna got ___________, Barbara got ___________.(Help me out here.)
Mom and Dad were very strong in their faith in God. I remember many times getting up going to the bathroom at night and I could hear Dad praying for all of us while he was kneeling at the couch in the front room. Each morning he would spend his first hour with the Lord, reading the Bible and having coffee. (I wonder if there will be any coffee in heaven.) One time Dad felt the call of God to leave Kansas and go to Duluth, Minnesota, as a minister. Mom said that ordinarily she never “felt” those calls on Dad’s life but on this occasion, she did. She knew we were going. Unfortunately, we had no money and no way to accomplish it.  Mother went ahead and started packing up the house in boxes. (Faith in action!) One day a man came to the door and introduced himself and said he didn’t know why but he was compelled to lend us his big farm truck and give us $250. Ah yes, we did move to Duluth!!
As I think back on all my memories of times with Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Dad, aunts, uncles, and cousins, I am exceedingly grateful and consider that I have had a very rich heritage indeed. I can only hope that each of you treasures the family heritage that you have as much as I do.

Lynne Remembers:
When we lived in Vet Ville in Nampa, Mary came over to visit.  She was really sick and everyone was worried about her (I was told she drank some “bad” milk and got??? Fever).  Mostly I remember her quiet voice and her gentle smile.  She looked like Grandma.  Mom talked about how Mary’s pantry was always full of food and we were always welcome.  I was intrigued because they were the only ones in the family who had an elevator in their house!
Archie’s nickname was “sugar.” Their first date was with other couples on a triple date. Mary took Archie away from his original date.

Gail Remembers:
Reupholstering recliners.  Her quiet voice and elegance.  Playing hide and seek till dark in the backyard.

Robin Remembers:
I remember going to visit Mary and Archie in McCall, Idaho.  She was always very gentle and quiet, very kind and warm.

Lois Remembers:
Her wisdom.  Telling me the “facts of life.”  Someone to follow and attempt to emulate.  Her great food.

Diane Remembers:
Mary was the most like Grandma to me.  Her home was homey.  She was warm and round like Grandma
