#1 My 1st 14er!
Climbed with Bob, Bev & Gail.
Snowed for 10 min. on top.
We slid on snow past Bowl of Tears & Patricia Lakes where we watched
2’ native cutthroats.
Mount Shavano 8/4/73
#2 Hiked with Bob, Bev, Jay & Bob. Started up at 7:30, on the peak at 3:00 after waiting out a snow storm. It was quite electric on top so we didn't stay long.
Torreys Peak 9/9/73
#3 Climbed with Bob in heavy fog. The peak finally appeared but was covered again by heavy clouds. It was windy and cold as we headed on to Grays Peak.

#4 Climbed with Bob from Torreys Peak. The wind died down and the clouds lifted so I got some good photos of Torreys and we made a leisurely decent.

#5 Climbed with Lou. A beautiful fall day with golden aspen and warm sunny skies made climbing most enjoyable. I decided to go on solo and do Mount Evans.

#6 From Bierstadt I soloed along a saw tooth ridge, then caught up with Lou and we descended a steep couloir and crossed a wide marshy valley to Guanella Pass.
Culebra Peak 6/22/74
#7 Bob, Jay and I paid Jack Davenport $25 to bag this peak on private property. On top we met a couple that paid $10 to come up the other side!
Windom Peak 7/5/74
#8 I took the Durango/Silverton train and hiked to Chicago Basin. I met some kids from Colo. Springs to hike with. We did Windom and then went on to Sunlight.

#9 Climbed with Dave, Diane, Don, Ed, Chris, Mike and Karen after bagging Windom Peak. We headed on to Mount Eolus but were turned back by weather.

#10 Up at 5:50, hit the trail at 6:05, on the peak at 8:35, off at 9:05, broke camp at 11:05, got to Needleton at
2:15, caught the train at 3:15 and Durango by 5. Whew!
Crestone Needle 7/13/74
#11 Camped at South Colony Lakes with Dave, Kathy, Karen, Diane, Chris and Mike. Up at 5:00 on top by
8:00, rappelled off and headed to Crestone Peak.

#12 From Crestone Needle we traversed to the red couloir and on top by 11:30. Coming down we nearly lost Dave when he fell about 100 yards down an ice flow.
Kit Carson Peak 7/13/74
#13 From Crestone Peak Diane, Chris and I got our 3rd peak for the day by 3:30. It started raining at 5:00 and we reached camp by 5:30 cold, wet and very tired.
Humboldt Peak 7/14/74
#14 Chris, Mike and I were on top by 7:30. Then Chris went back up Kit Carson to retrieve my camera I accidentally left on top. We trudged back down in rain.
Wetterhorn Peak 7/23/74
#15 Jay and I camped at Capitol City. We started up at 6:30 and scaled the last 100 feet to the peak by 10:00.
Then we went on to Uncompahgre Peak.

#16 From Wetterhorn Peak Jay and I dropped to 12,400, crossed the sheep meadow and to the peak where the marker rod was buzzing with electricity. Left in a hurry!

#17 Jay and I started our climb a mile above Mill Creek campground and fought rotten scree all the way up and trough a hail storm. Then on to Red Cloud Peak.

#18 From Sunshine Jay and I traversed to the peak amid rain and hail and then bounded down soft scree and went to Lake City and played bingo at the Armory.
Handies Peak 7/25/74
#19 Jay and I walked through wet woods along a babbling brook in a sea of wildflowers to the top by 10:00.
Then down to Sloan Lake for a refreshing swim!
San Luis Peak 7/26/74
#20 Jay and I camped at Stewart Creek in rain. We had blue skies to make the long easy assent. Then rain moved in again and we bounded down loose scree to camp.
Quandary Peak 8/3/74
#21 Starting at 8:30 I climbed with Kathy up the North side from McCullough Creek by the 2 mine cabins. On the peak by 11:30 then down the long ridge by 3:30
North Maroon Peak 8/23/74
#22 Camped at Maroon Lake, climbed with Bob and Jay from Buckskin Pass trail in excellent weather. On the peak by 10:30. Then went on to South Maroon Peak.
South Maroon Peak 8/23/74
#23 After a difficult traverse from North Maroon Peak Bob, Jay and I reached the summit by 1:00 then struggled down to camp by 5:30.
Pyramid Peak 8/24/74
#24 From Maroon Lake Bob, Jay and I climbed the rough, cairn marked route to the top by 11:30. Had a fun slide down loose scree. Then on to Glenwood for a swim.
Mount Democrat 9/8/74
#25 Climbed solo from camp at Kite Lake. Arrived on the peak by 8:00. Then on to Mount Lincoln with cool breezes for a pleasant climb.

#26 Solo from Mount Democrat I crossed the ridge up to Cameron Peak and on to Mount Lincoln by 9:30.
Explored lots of old miners' cabins. Then on to Mount Bross.

#27 Solo from Lincoln I skirted Cameron directly to Bross by 10:30. Coming down loose scree was a blast! At
11:30 I drove over to do Mount Sherman.

#28 After climbing Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln & Bross I soloed up Sheridan and on to Sherman by 3:15. 6 peaks in one day! (4 14ers) I explored Hilltop Mine.

#29 Climbed with Bob and Jay. Post holed through foot deep crusty snow on a sunny 20-degree day. A day later I was in Puerto Rico. Talk about extremes!
Little Bear Peak 7/12/75
#30 Climbed with Bob, Jay and Bob. This was a "toughie" for us. At least we had good weather. On the peak by 11:00. Then on to Blanca Peak

#31 From Little Bear Peak Bob, Jay, Bob and I crossed snow fields and up fairly solid scree on the South side to the summit by 3:00 amid "thunder boomies" and hail.

#32 From Blanca Peak Jay and I crossed the ridge to the peak by 4:30 and then had a long tired hike to the car by 6:30 and home by 1:00 AM!

#33 Jay and I camped at Cottonwood Creek and hiked 5 miles to Bear Lake to climb to the peak by 11:00. Then dropped down the East side to hike to Mount Columbia.

#34 From Harvard Jay and I traversed snowfields to arrive on top by 3:00. We slid down scree on the West side and walked in rain 5 miles to the car.
Capitol Peak 8/31/75
#35 Jay and I camped at Snowmass Falls Ranch. At 8,400' with 30# backpacks we climbed 6 miles to 13,000' left the packs and on top by 4:00. Camp at Pierre Lakes.

#36 Jay and I left Pierre Lakes at 6:30 with 30# packs to Snowmass Lake. Hiked to the peak by 2:00, the Lake by 4:00, the car by 8:00 and home at 1AM. Very tired!
Castle Peak 10/3/75
#37 Jay and I camped and hiked from Pearl Pass road 3.5 miles to the top by 10:15. Were off the peak at
11:00 and to the car by 2:00 amid blazing gold aspen groves.
Mount Massive 7/10/76
#38 Camped with Cindy and started up at 6:45. She stayed on the tundra while I bagged the peak by 1:00. We rejoined at 2:00 and hiked out by 4:45.

#39 Jay and I camped above Singing River Ranch in my VW Squareback at the end of the riverbed Jeep road.
The Ormes route had 2 disappointing false summits. Rain!

#40 Jay, Dan and I camped in Yankee Boy Basin and hiked up Blue Lakes Pass trail in rain. On the peak by
10:00 then back to Ouray for a hot springs swim.

#41 Jay, Dan and I packed in to Silver Pick Mine. At 6:30 we climbed over the saddle into Navajo Lake basin and to the top by 10:00 then on to El Diente Peak.

#42 Jay, Dan and I traversed the treacherous ridge from Mount Wilson to the peak by 1:30 when it hailed and rained. Then down slippery rocks to glissade on snow.

#43 Jay Dan and I camped in a horrendous storm at Silver Pick Mine. Up Gladstone saddle and to the windy top by 10:00. We "screed" down for a wet, rapid descent.

#44 Cindy and I camped at Collegiate Peaks. Up at 6:15 and on top by 11:30. Scurried down amid wildflowers and showers. Buena Vista and on to Princeton.

#45 Cindy and I camped above Young Life Frontier Camp. Started at 6:15 and met Stanley and dog "Skipper".
We all got to the peak by 10:45 and got down by 2:30.
Tabeguache Mountain 7/23/77
#46 Cindy and I camped at Shavano in rain. At 6:30 we hiked up to tundra where she waited while I followed the ridge to the top at 10:30 and back by 1:30 in rain.

#47 Cindy and I camped at Cascade in rain. From Baldwin Gulch I made the top by 12:30 amid eerie fog and found several gems on the way down by 3:45.
Missouri Mountain 8/13/77
#48 I camped at Vicksburg and at 6:00 climbed solo up Missouri Gulch 3 miles and up the face to the ridge and West to the peak by 9:30. Then on to Mount Belford.

#49 From Missouri Mountain I traversed solo to the peak by 12:45 and left a new CMC register in the canister on top then headed on to Mount Oxford.

#50 From Mount Belford I traversed solo to the peak by 2:30. Three 14ers on my 39th birthday! Drove back to Buena Vista for a happy birthday prime rib dinner.
Huron Peak 8/14/77
#51 I camped at Winfield then drove up to Banker Mine and hiked solo to the peak by 9:30. Back to Winfield by 11:30 and on to ghost town Everett.
La Plata Peak 8/14/77
#52 I started up solo at 2:00 and met lots of hikers coming down. Made the peak by 5:30 amid a snow storm and got back to the car by 7:15 in rain.
Longs Peak 9/2/77
#53 Gene and I camped at Wild Basin and began climb at 5:40, to boulder field by 9, keyhole by 10 and peak by 12. Back to car by 6:40. This was our 2nd attempt.
Pikes Peak 9/11/77
#54 Bob, Jay and I climb our 54th 14er! Family members climb with or drive up to meet us on top and celebrate. We are listed in the Dec. 1977 issue of CMC Trail & Timberline as the 194, 195 and 196th members to have climbed them all.
