Rules of Conduct

In 1764 Cathrine the Great became ruler.  She had small "Hermitage" built next to the original "Hermitage" for a play house.  This is where the rules of behavior are posted.  No servants were allowed during these "Little Get Togethers."

I.  Leave all rank outside along with hats and swords.

II.  High spirits are fine, but don't damage or break anything.

III.  Speak quietly, Don't shout and give others nearby a headache.

IV.  Don't sigh, Don't yawn, Don't burden or bore anyone.

V.  Eat 'till your hearts content, but drink with moderation so that you are able to find your legs and leave by the door.

VI.  Mind you own business and don't wash your dirty linen in public.
