FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Phil Frisk Slated for Shoulder SurgerySkiing Accident Takes its Toll February 29, 2000 -- Phil dislocated his left shoulder while skiing at Winter Park December 26, 1999. Along the Galloping Goose trail, he ran over a runaway snowboard a kid dropped and left a "yard sale" for about 50 feet. Phil says, "I sat up and felt my arm dangling from its socket. I reduced the shoulder myself by putting my knees on my forearm and pulling. Then I went to the clinic for a sling and an ice pack and came on home." After a few therapy sessions, and not enough improvement, he consulted a shoulder specialist who diagnosed a torn rotator cuff. They decided to repair the injury with surgery March 16th. It is expected to take 6 months for recovery. "Bummer!" Phil said, "I already have a weak right shoulder from a similar accident about eight years ago. This takes away most of my enthusiasm for skiing. Guess I'll hang 'em up."
